Legal Services of New Jersey coordinates the statewide Legal Services system, which provides free legal assistance to low-income New Jerseyans for their civil legal problems. Through its work, LSNJ strives to secure substantive and procedural justice for those living in poverty.

The Melville D. (“De”) Miller, Jr. Justice Series

The Melville D. (“De”) Miller, Jr. Justice Series, named in honor of Legal Services of New Jersey’s co-founder and former president, is a public education initiative dedicated to raising awareness of pressing justice issues. These free virtual events are open to the community and bring together distinguished guest lecturers, legal professionals, policymakers, and community leaders to discuss timely topics of appeal to both lawyers and non-lawyers. Each program is designed to inform, educate, broaden perspectives, and stimulate meaningful discussion. While continuing legal education (CLE) credits are available for attorneys, the series is intentionally inclusive, ensuring that critical conversations on justice reach a wide and diverse audience. Each webinar hosts 900-1000 participants, typically.

The LSNJ United in the Pursuit of Leadership Initiatives for Tomorrow (UPLIFT^TM) mission is to inspire, support, and empower emerging leaders in public interest law and public service, with a focus on social justice. UPLIFT^TM provides a forum for cross-sector leadership programming that encourages collaboration, builds essential skills, and gathers insight from diverse voices. Through mentorship, dialogue, and training, we are preparing the next generation of changemakers to lead justice initiatives that serve and uplift communities across New Jersey.
